Spring Conference Call for Session Proposals

Call for Proposals: NOW OPEN!

Please submit your proposal no later than 11:55 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018.

The Minnesota Council of Teachers of English Spring Conference will be held April 26 & 27, 2018 in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Teaching for the Heart and Soul: Engaging and Inspiring Our Students

Proposals are now being accepted for MCTE’s 2018 Spring Conference. We invite you to consider questions related to the theme, “Teaching for the Heart and Soul: Engaging and Inspiring Our Students.”

For example, what texts speak to our students? How might we create a culturally responsive class? In what ways can we make students feel empowered through literacy? What practices are most likely to lead to a lifelong love of reading and writing? How can we motivate our students who don’t see the “point” of an English class? What methods can we use to help our struggling students be successful?

Sessions may be led by individuals or groups and will be 60 minutes in length. We ask for presenters to engage the audience in ways fitting to the material and to please share handouts ahead of time that can be electronically accessible on our web site. Everyone loves to leave a conference with a good lesson plan for Monday, so we encourage you to share your best ideas and resources!

Proposals will be accepted electronically. Please complete the form below.
