Please join MCTE for our next
Diverse Books Reading Group!
Next Meeting
Saturday, September 12, 2026
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Join the MCTE Board on Zoom from 9-10 am for a conversation about Legendary Frybread Drive-In: Intertribal Stories, edited by Cynthia Leitich Smith, and Kevin Noble Maillard’s picturebook Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story, illustrated by Juana Martinez-Neal.
This group was created to support teachers in their reading experience of books written by authors of diverse backgrounds. Discussions will include responses to the books and connections to standards, students, our shared history, and current times.
MCTE board members will facilitate this and future discussions of other books written by diverse authors that highlight topics from the themes and ideas brought up during each discussion.
Attendance at our previous events isn’t required to participate. Please come with the books already read, questions you would like to ask, connections you have made, and any ideas or expertise you are willing to share.
The discussion is FREE, but you will need to procure your own copy of each book and register using the link provided to receive the Zoom link.

We look forward to learning with you!
CEUs will be available following the discussion.
