Renee Hobbs is one of the nation’s leading authorities on media literacy education. She is the author of 12 books and more than 300 scholarly and professional articles. Hobbs works to advance digital and media literacy through scholarship and community service and has developed numerous award-winning multimedia resources for K-12 educators that help teachers integrate digital and media literacy into the curriculum. She has received more than $7 million in grants to support research, education and community outreach efforts in digital and media literacy education.
Hobbs is the Founding Co-Editor of the Journal for Media Literacy Education, an open-access online peer-reviewed journal. She is also the founder and director of theĀ Media Education Lab. Hobbs teaches fully-online graduate courses in media studies, education and library and information studies. Hobbs helped found the Partnership for Media Education, which evolved into the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE).
